By day, I’m a teacher in a middle school English classroom… By evening, I’m a hardcore crossfitter! I go from teaching my heart out to sweating my behind off all in the same day! Haha!!!
I absolutely love teaching but the stress is so overwhelming sometimes. What’s sad is that it’s never my students or my curriculum in the classroom that stresses me out. I ABSOLUTELY love that part of my job. It’s all the testing, data, and excess parts of the job that bog me down.
This is where a whole new appreciation of Crossfit comes in. On the days where all I want to do is go home and gripe and sulk in my work stress, going to Crossfit alleviates that desire. It’s like stepping into that gym *literally* makes everything better, even on days where I don’t do that well (like tonight). Ha!
Strength: 5x15 HR push-ups
WOD: 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 for time
Shoulders to overhead at 75
**20 minute time cap**
Well, the HR push-ups were a challenge after the first 3 rounds, but I got them done. I’m trying so hard not to snake them. The WOD was harsh!! Kyle has all of a sudden decided that we can no longer do kipping pull-ups in a WOD of we can’t complete at least 3 strict pull-ups. *Any tips on getting strict pull-ups are welcome* because that was really discouraging news as I went and did my box let downs instead of pull-ups. Grrrr! I did not finish the workout within the time cap but did get 141 reps. I’m ok with this overall. It was a hard one with a whole lotta reps! ;)
My friend Sarah started Crossfit with me this week. She is experiencing the love-hate relationship of soreness and beginning Crossfit at the moment. I’m hoping she loves it and sticks with it.
Oh, and Kyle gave me and Tori the biggest compliments ever tonight!!! He said, and I quote, “You and Tori definitely get the Crossfit Spirit Award. Y’all are always happy and smiling here and making everyone else happy!” Geez, I could’ve cried when he said that. It was soooo sweet and sincere.
On that gushy note, I’m going to get some sleep. Good night, wonderful people!
