...because the only things that are standing in my way are me, myself, and I...

Good morning, everyone!

I’ve got plenty of updates to do on my weekend and have a whole lotta pics I can share, but I’ll keep it short and sweet for now. I went to Savannah this weekend to see my family and to go to my cousin’s wedding (hence the fact I’m dress up in this pic from yesterday). Ha!

Well, I’m short on time but will elaborate on the weekend later. Have a wonderful day, everyone, and don’t let Monday get the best of you! :)

Some weeks just beat you, and this definitely a week that I wave the white flag on… But, that’s no reason to not smile. I have to appreciate what I have and am blessed with! Oh, and I have to appreciate Starbucks. Haha!

It’s Friday, people! We get a well-deserved weekend!! Enjoy it! :)

"Stress does nothing but change reality into the Big Bad Wolf while making us feel like the Little Piggies."

I’m not sure who wrote this quote, but I like it. Stress defeated me today, and I definitely had a breakdown at school. Those are never fun! I really try to keep all negative thoughts off my tumblr, and I’m not going to elaborate beyond the fact that work is a struggle right now as the pressure and expectations continue to increase. I’m not usually a weak person, but I feel weak and defeated at my job right now. The irony is that the problem is not remotely related to students. They’re actually the ones who are keeping me sane. Thank God for my students. Ok, enough of my rant. Crossfit helped me get out of my slump.

Tonight’s workout:
Strength: 10 minute EMOM - Full snatch from high hang position at 35lbs- **we were just practicing technique here**
WOD: 5 RFT
10 deadlifts at 155lbs
20 wallball shots - 14lb ball.

For the strength, Kyle was so impressed with my snatch technique that he made everyone watch as he walked through my motions step by step. That was a much needed confidence boost. He even stood there with the PVC pipe vertical and close to me to show that I brought the bar directly up. Yay!

For the WOD, Kyle decided to put me in the group with all the hardcore crossfitters. This was a compliment and intimidating at the same time. Then he proceeds to tell us that the cutoff is 15 minutes. First off, the 515 class had a 20 minute cutoff. Secondly, my time for this exact same WOD was 16:31 last time. I was nervous about this one. I ended up not finishing within the 15 minutes but was only 7 reps from completion. I do wish I’d pushed a bit harder to make it through. I’m still happy with my improvement from last time though.

My friend and coworker, Sarah, started going to Crossfit with me. She is liking it so far and definitely shares my appreciation of our stress reliever. Ha! I’m so happy that Crossfit is in my life. I’d probably blow a gasket right now otherwise.

Well, nighty night! I hope all of you amazing people get a good night’s rest.

Post WOD selfies!!! We totally almost got busted out when taking this. Haha!

Tonight’s workout was a good one! It was hard, but good.

Strength:
10 minute EMOM - 3 push jerk at 70% 1 RM (90 lbs for me)
8 minute EMOM - 5 strict press (big band for me)
WOD: 12 minute AMRAP
15 air squats
10 OH squats with 35lb bumper
5 push-ups

The strength portion was a lot to start with. The push jerks at 90lbs got heavy after the first few rounds, and the strict press… Yeah, I can’t do those. A big band was necessary to even attempt it. I need tips on these- HELP!

The WOD was not hard movements but a lot. My legs are probably going to feel it tomorrow. I finished right at 7 rounds. :) I’m good with that!

Well, good night all you lovely people!

So… This is my bubble! Do not enter my bubble! Haha!

It amazes me how much these kids don’t understand personal space. I pretty much lost it on a student yesterday for being up in my face when I turned around. Ahhhhh!!! I don’t even know what I said to him. I flipped! So I now have a bubble that the kids cannot enter. Period. End of convo. Haha!

Last night’s workout was a good one. Here’s a short summary:

Strength: 10 minutes EMOM of 2 full snatches using 45
WOD: 17 minute AMRAP
40 burpees
30 snatches at 45
30 burpees
30 snatches at 75
20 burpees
30 snatches at 100
10 burpees
30 snatches at 125

I got up to 10 of the 20 burpees and had 140 reps total. I used 65 instead of 75 for the second set of snatches though. I didn’t want to push my limits too much. I’m happy with it. :)

Well, lunch break is ending now. Have a great day!!!

My weekend was very laid back and nice. I need weekends like this one more often. Friday night was Crossfit, Saturday I helped a friend pack up to move, and then I spent Sunday with Beau.

We went down to the Fernandina Beach to go for a run. The weather and sky were dreary, but the temperature was perfect for a run. It was still pretty scenery as well though.

I ran my first mile in 11:45. Ha! This was awful timing for a mile, and I knew that. Beau challenged me to knock off a minute on my second mile. I had 0 confidence that I’d accomplish this but tried anyway. Well, I ran my second mile in 10:04!! What?!? I have no idea how that happened. Haha!

We spent the rest of the day watching football and hanging out in the garage as he worked on his car. It was a nice, relaxing kind of day. Now, it’s back to the grind.

Have a great Monday, everyone!! :)

TGIF!!! Even though this was a short week, it felt like a regular one. Ha! I’m glad for the weekend’s arrival so I can get a bit of R&R!

Crossfit was a debate tonight, but as always, I’m glad I went. It was a small class but a fun group.

The workout:
Strength: 7 Minute EMOM- 3 1&1/2 Front squats at 65% I RM (100 for me)
4x8 GHRs
WOD: 45 Burpee Box Jumps at 20”

I finished in 5:47. I can work with this time for sure!! :) It was a good workout!

Oh, and I discovered a bit of abs today in my mirror. I thought I’d share. ;) Haha!

For all the Hobbit fans… Here’s my class discussion today! Hopefully you all get my reference! Muscles versus brains/wisdom… Gandalf wins! Haha!

Oh, and yes, I’m clearly an artist!!! ;)

Happy Friday!!! :)

Happy Friday!!! :)

Today was a long day but not a bad one. I saw three rainbows on my drive home and snapped pics for y’all, of course. This one turned out the best.

For some reason, this sky gives me hope and reminds me that life is beautiful. We need to look past the bad and remember that there’s a rainbow at the end of every storm. Yes, I know it’s cliche, but it holds truth.

Well, have a good night, dear friends! :) Happy Friday!

By day, I’m a teacher in a middle school English classroom… By evening, I’m a hardcore crossfitter! I go from teaching my heart out to sweating my behind off all in the same day! Haha!!!

I absolutely love teaching but the stress is so overwhelming sometimes. What’s sad is that it’s never my students or my curriculum in the classroom that stresses me out. I ABSOLUTELY love that part of my job. It’s all the testing, data, and excess parts of the job that bog me down.

This is where a whole new appreciation of Crossfit comes in. On the days where all I want to do is go home and gripe and sulk in my work stress, going to Crossfit alleviates that desire. It’s like stepping into that gym *literally* makes everything better, even on days where I don’t do that well (like tonight). Ha!

The workout:
Strength: 5x15 HR push-ups
WOD: 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 for time
Shoulders to overhead at 75
Pull-ups
**20 minute time cap**

Well, the HR push-ups were a challenge after the first 3 rounds, but I got them done. I’m trying so hard not to snake them. The WOD was harsh!! Kyle has all of a sudden decided that we can no longer do kipping pull-ups in a WOD of we can’t complete at least 3 strict pull-ups. *Any tips on getting strict pull-ups are welcome* because that was really discouraging news as I went and did my box let downs instead of pull-ups. Grrrr! I did not finish the workout within the time cap but did get 141 reps. I’m ok with this overall. It was a hard one with a whole lotta reps! ;)

My friend Sarah started Crossfit with me this week. She is experiencing the love-hate relationship of soreness and beginning Crossfit at the moment. I’m hoping she loves it and sticks with it.

Oh, and Kyle gave me and Tori the biggest compliments ever tonight!!! He said, and I quote, “You and Tori definitely get the Crossfit Spirit Award. Y’all are always happy and smiling here and making everyone else happy!” Geez, I could’ve cried when he said that. It was soooo sweet and sincere.

On that gushy note, I’m going to get some sleep. Good night, wonderful people!
